Distance Learning is a catch-all name for both Home Study and Correspondence Courses. It means that you can study at whatever time suits you, wherever you happen to be, rather than having to commit yourself to attending a regular class or tutoring session.
With a distance learning language course, you set the pace at which you like to work. Unlike group lessons, you won't have to wait for the slowest member of the group to catch up, or struggle to keep up with someone else.
Also, when you're learning a new language, distance learning has the advantage that you don't have to suffer the embarrassment of attempting to pronounce foreign words in front of a class full of people. You can practise in private until you're comfortable and confident in your pronunciation.
